History of B&B Box Company
While working for Consolidated Paper Co. back in the 1950’s, Bob Maurer and Bryce Finkbone had a vision to fill an unmet local need in the packaging industry. They had created a niche that remains to be our strength today. Their niche was to run less than truckload quantities for custom orders and to have a wide variety of sizes kept in stock to fill just about any size order. They decided to break out on their own and turn this idea into a reality. They incorporated in 1959 and opened for business on Detroit Avenue. A few years later, Bernard Hammer joined the B&B Box team.
By 1972, Bernie was in charge of sales. B&B Box continued to prosper and be a leader in packaging and innovation. By the early 1980’s, the torch of leadership was passed to Bernie as he took over as president. In 1987 Bernie’s son, Greg joined the team. Greg worked in every department from production to sales to his current position as president. Bernie and Greg realized that that they needed more state of the art machines to keep their competitive edge. They could not expand at the Detroit avenue location, so they built a brand new facility in Perrysburg Ohio. By the fall of ‘97, B&B Box’s new facility was up and running with a new flexo-folder-gluer and die cutters along with machines brought over from the Detroit Avenue plant. We have plenty of room for future expansion at our Perrysburg site.
